Register with estate agents

Once you have established what you can borrow the next stage is to start looking for a house within your price range. Things to consider

• No of bedrooms you would like
• Is it near a school
• Do you need to be near your work or can you travel
• Do you want to be near family/friends
• Do you want a new development or a lived in home

You should register with estate agents, check property websites and look in local papers to find a property you want.

Once you see a house you like

Call into the Mortgage Advice Shop who will work out how much the mortgage repayments are. At this stage we can look at the various types of mortgages, such as fixed, discounted, tracker, variable and capped and we can also advise on the repayments methods available
